التحصينات العسكرية لمدينة بيت شمس من الألف الثاني حتى بداية الألف الأول قبل الميلاد

مرت مدينة بيت شمس بثلاث مراحل على مدار تاريخها، المرحلة الأولى منها كانت مدينة كنعانية في الفترة من منتصف العصر البرونزي الوسيط إلى أواخر العصر البرونزي الحديث، والمرحلة الثانية كانت مدينة فلسطينية تعود إلى العصر الحديدي الأول، والمرحلة الثالثة خضعت للغزو العبراني وتعود للعصر الحديدي الثاني، وشهدت المدينة خلال المرحلتين الأولى والثانية من تاريخها إقامة العديد من التحصينات العسكرية مثل البوابات (البوابة الشمالية والبوابة الجنوبية)، والأبراج الدفاعية والحصون العسكرية بالإضافة إلى سور يحيط بالمدينة للدفاع والحماية من أي خطر خارجي، وعلى عكس المرحلتين السابقتين تأتي المرحلة الثالثة التي خضعت خلالها المدينة للغزو العبراني، وحرمت من تحصيناتها ومنشأتها الدفاعية على يد هؤلاء العبرانيين، اللذين لم يصلحوا ما خلفوه من دمار ولم يشيدوا الجديد من التحصينات.
Military Fortifications of the City of Beit Shams from the Second Millennium until the Beginning of the First Millennium BC.
Abstract: The city of Beit Shams passed through three stages throughout its history. The first stage was a Canaanite city from the middle of the Middle Bronze Age to the late modern Bronze Age, the second stage was a Palestinian city dating back to the first Iron Age, and the third stage was subjected to the Hebrew invasion and dates back to the Second Iron Age. During the first and second stages of its history, the city witnessed the erection of many military fortifications such as the gates (the northern gate and the southern gate), defensive towers, and military fortresses, in addition to a wall surrounding the city to defend and protect from any external danger. It was deprived of its fortifications and defensive facilities at the hands of these Hebrews, who did not repair the destruction they left behind and did not build new fortifications.
